Preview of the 2025 Pontevedra Duathlon World Championship

Pontevedra dresses up this Saturday, June 21st to kick off the Multisport World Championship of 2025.
An event that reinforces Galicia's role as a leading venue for international triathlon and will serve as a luxurious prelude to the World Series Grand Final, which the city will host in 2026.
The calendar: six days, six championships
From this Saturday until Sunday, June 29, the Galician city will host an intense week of six top-level events:
- Saturday 21: Elite and U23 Duathlon
- Sunday 22th: 2×2 Duathlon World Championship
- Tuesday 25: Cross Triathlon
- Thursday 26: Cross Duathlon
- Friday 27: Aquathlon
- Sunday 29th: Long Distance Triathlon
A multi-sport event that will bring together hundreds of international athletes in an unbeatable setting.
Spain, ready for gold: Javito Martín, Genis Grau, and Antonio Serrat
In the elite men's event, all eyes will be on Javito Martín, the current world champion, who arrives ready to defend his title. Along with him, the also Spanish Genis Grau y Antonio Serrat promise to be in contention for the podium. Unfortunately, the withdrawal of nacho galvez, one of the big names in the national duathlon.
The distance of this edition (5 km run – 30 km cycling – 5 km run) is a change from the usual and could favor more diesel profiles, adding strategy and resistance to the final outcome.
International weight rivals
The battle won't be easy. Among the top names to watch are:
- Benjamin Choquert (FRA): multiple continental and world champion
- Emilie Blondel and Krilan LeBihan (FRA): both recent medalists
- Arnaud Dely (BEL): always in the lead
