Six Spaniards will be at the Chengdu World Cup.

This weekend, World Triathlon heads to China for the dispute of the Chengdu World Cup, a key date in the calendar prior to the World Series in Yokohama.
The race, which will be held under Olympic distance, presents a circuit that is accessible at first glance, but with technical aspects to take into account: two laps of a lake (750 m each) in the swim, eight laps of the cycling circuit (with possible "laps") and four laps of running around the same pond.
Spanish presence with six triathletes in search of points
The Spanish Triathlon Federation (FETRI) will have six representatives in Chengdu, evenly distributed between the men's and women's categories.
In girls, they will take the start Sara Guerrero, Maria Casals y María Teresa Jiménez-Orta, who is making her debut in this type of competition at just 19 years old. Guerrero arrives after winning the Galician Championship and brings the most experience to the group, while Casals and Jiménez-Orta face the challenge eager to add points to the international ranking.
In the men's race, the oldest will be Kevin Viñuela, who will look to take advantage of his great level in the water to break the race from the start. Joining him will be Stephen Basanta y Andres PrietoThe three will try to stay ahead in the early stages and form part of the leading group after T1, which is key in this type of race.
Tough opponents in both draws
In the women's category, names such as the Italian stand out Verena Steinhauser, the French Sandra Dodet, the Hungarian Marta Kropkó, the Portuguese Melanie Santos and the New Zealander Ainsley thorpe.
But all eyes will be on the local team. Xinyu Lin, who has already signed several TOP-10 in World Cups and comes from winning alongside yifanyang the Asian Sprint Championship.
In men, the field is even denser, with up to 56 triathletes. Among the favorites is the Frenchman Maxime Hueber-Moosbrugger, recent e-triathlon world champion, and the Hungarian Mark Devay, a regular in the world top.

A circuit that can hold surprises
The course layout could cause more than one surprise. The eight laps on the bike open the door to lapped triathletes, which adds an important tactical component.
If the Spaniards swim well, they could form a leading group with a real chance of challenging for the top spots.
