Next Sunday, May 18, the city of Aix-en-Provence, in the south of France, will host one of the most anticipated events of the season: the HOMBRE DE HIERRO 70.3 Aix-en-Provence.

An event that will bring together some of the most prominent figures in international triathlon, with special emphasis on the Norwegian duo composed of Kristian Blummenfelt y Gustav Iden.

Both IRONMAN world champions, Blummenfelt The 2021 y Iden In 2022, they will arrive on French soil ready to stake their claim at this event. Pro-Series.

The fight for the men's title

In the men's category, all eyes will be on Kristian Blummenfelt, who has shown great form at the start of this season, winning both in IRONMAN 70.3 Oceanside as, especially, in his recent victory in the IRONMAN Texas.

Gustav Iden, after a few complicated years due to injuries, will also seek to redeem himself after his podium finish in Oceanside, although in Texas he was forced to slow down.

The current champion of the event, Ruben Zepuntke, will try to defend his crown against these titans, while the French Leon chevalier will be the great local hope.

Other notable names include Casper Stornes (Norway), James Teagle (Great Britain) and johannes vogel (Germany), the latter recent winner of the IRONMAN 70.3 Valencia.

High-level women's competition

In the women's event, the Austrian Lisa Perterer starts as one of the main favorites after her podium finishes in the T100 Singapore and in the IRONMAN Texas.

The Spanish triathlete Marta Sanchez will also be on the starting line, relying on his recent good results, such as his second place in the IRONMAN South Africa.

Competing alongside her will be the British lizzie rayner, third in Valencia, and Nikki Bartlett, winner in Swansea. The Swedish Sara Svensk will also be a rival to be taken into account.

Spanish representation in Aix-en-Provence

Spain will have two prominent representatives in the elite event:

  • Marta Sanchez (F1) in the women's category.
  • Vicente Hernández Cabrera (M44) in the men's category.

Both will seek to leave the Spanish pavilion at the top of their game at a prestigious international event.

With a spectacular route through the historic center of Aix-en-Provence and the surrounding region, IRONMAN 70.3 promises to offer a truly spectacular event.
