The 2026 National Duathlon League kicks off in La Nucía with three Spanish championships
The 2026 National Duathlon League begins this March 7th and 8th in La Nucía with the Spanish Duathlon SuperSprint Championships for Clubs, Mixed Relays and 2x2 Relays, bringing together more than 1.100 athletes from 70 clubs.
The Alicante town of La Nucía, known as the “City of Sport”, is once again the starting point of the Spanish Triathlon Federation National Duathlon League (FETRI).
During the weekend of 7 and 8 MarchThe Estadi Olímpic Camilo Cano will host three Spanish championships in SuperSprint format, with the participation of more than 1.100 athletes Distributed in 209 teams from 70 clubs across the country.
The event will kick off the national club season with an explosive and highly visual format for the public, as all segments are concentrated on a compact circuit around the stadium. Entry will be free for spectators who wish to watch the competition from the stands.
A weekend with three Spanish championships
The sports program includes three main competitions that are part of the first days of the National Duathlon League 2026.
On one hand, the Spanish Championship of Duathlon SuperSprint by Clubs The action kicks off on Saturday with high-speed races in a qualifying and final series format. Teams will be looking to secure their first crucial points in the league standings.
That same day will also be celebrated Spanish Duathlon Championship by Mixed Relay, one of the most spectacular forms of calendar.
Each team will be made up of two men and two women, who will take turns completing a SuperSprint duathlon.
Sunday's session will be dedicated to Spanish Duathlon Relay Championship 2x2, a strategic test in which the teams align three pairs of athletes who each perform two SuperSprint duathlons, which creates moments with several athletes from the same club competing at the same time.
A short and explosive format
All competitions will follow the format SuperSprintDesigned for fast and highly dynamic races. Each duathlete will have to complete a 2 km run, a 6 km bike ride, and a final 1 km run.
The cycling circuit will have 3 kilometers per lap, with two complete turns and a technical layout designed both for the spectacle and for watching from the stands.
Meanwhile, the foot race will take place entirely within the stadium grounds.
This design transforms the Estadi Olímpic Camilo Cano into a true duathlon stadium, allowing the public to see much of the competition without moving from the stands.
Schedules for the main races
The qualifying rounds of the club championship will begin on Saturday, March 7.
The male series will begin at 9:00, while the women's series They will do so starting at 12:00.
The finals are scheduled to begin at 11:00 in the men's category and from the 14:00 in the female category.
In the afternoon it will be the turn of Spanish Mixed Relay Championship, with the elite category starting at 17:00, followed shortly afterwards by the Open category.
The match will be played on Sunday, March 8th. Spanish 2x2 Relay Championship, closing the first block of competitions in the national league.
Start of the 2026 National Duathlon League
The tests in La Nucía correspond to the first three days of the National Duathlon League.
The calendar will continue at the end of March with a new event in Ciudad Real , where the Spanish Duathlon Championships will be held team time trial and relays.
The league will conclude in Albacete, the days 11 y 12 de abril, with the Spanish championships of duathlon by clubs and relays/pairs, which will decide the final titles of the season.
