Mediterranean Triathlon Alicante 2025: record participation and new family duathlon
This weekend, Alicante will become the national triathlon capital with the celebration of the Mediterranean Triathlon Alicante 2025, the inaugural test of the MTRI circuit, which arrives with record numbers.
A total of 1.180 registered will participate in this ninth edition, consolidating the growth and attractiveness of the event in the Valencian Community.
With ideal temperatures and clear skies, the coastal city will experience two days of competition which will fill the Paseíto Ramiro and Postiguet Beach, key areas of the route, with atmosphere.
Record number of national and international entrants and participation
The 2025 edition marks a new milestone for MTRI Alicante by surpassing the numbers from previous years. The presence of athletes of more than 10 nationalities —among them Belgium, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Portugal, Germany, Ireland, Romania, Poland, Italy, Mexico and Switzerland—, although the bulk of participants are national.
- Saturday May 18: 490 triathletes will compete in the sprint distance, and 72 boys and girls will participate with their families in the premiere of the family duathlon.
- Sunday May 19: 228 athletes will start the supersprint distance and 386 in the Olympic triathlon.
The debut of the family duathlon: family sport
One of the great novelties of this edition is the incorporation of the family duathlon, a non-competitive format designed for pairs consisting of an adult and a child between 5 and 12 years old.
This type of event, which successfully debuted in February at the Valencia Duatló by MTRI, seeks to foster the values of sport from childhood and promote an active and healthy family life.
Alicante will be the first official headquarters of the MTRI circuit in embracing this modality.
