Norseman 2025 Preview: The world's most extreme triathlon returns this Saturday
This Saturday, August 2, a new edition of the Norseman Xtreme Triathlon, one of the most demanding triathlons in the world.
From the cold waters of the fjord of Eidfjord to the top of the Gaustatoppen, 250 elite and selected amateur athletes will experience something far beyond just a time trial.
Starting at 05:00 a.m. (CET), participants will jump from a ferry in the middle of the fjord to swim the 3,8 km.
An iconic image that marks the beginning of an epic journey. From there, a brutal bike ride awaits through the Norwegian fjords and mountains, and a marathon that culminates at the top of Gaustatoppen, at an altitude of 1.880 m.
2024 was a wild year: rain, shortened stages, and impressive times
Last year, bad weather forced the race to be shortened to 32,5 km, but it was still an unforgettable day. The Swede Sebastian norberg took the victory with a great performance, while Flora Colledge was the best in the women's category.
That day, the German Sebastian Kienle, a long distance legend, completed the race with an impressive 9:34:16, while the Norwegian Jon Saeveras Breivold recorded a time of 9:09:57 on the shortened course. Colledge, meanwhile, clocked 10:10:16 before returning this year for more.
2025 Favorites: Norwegians on the prowl and an open battle between the women
In the men's category, all eyes will be on the Norwegian trio formed by Christian Grue, Hans Christian Tungevik y Anders LangsetWith numbers 21, 22, and 23, they will be the home team favorites to take home the black jersey.
