Next Saturday, May 31, San Francisco will be the stage for a new edition of the T100 Triathlon World Tour, on a tour inspired by the mythical Escape from Alcatraz.
The 2024 edition was considered one of the best of the year, and the 2025 edition could surpass it.
The lineup is packed with stars and old acquaintances: Marten Van Riel, Kyle Smith y Rich Bogen They will repeat the closest final sprint of last season, where the Belgian won by less than a second.
As if that were not enough, local favorites are added Sam long, Jason West y Morgan Pearson, as well as World Series names like Kenji nener, Jake Birtwhistle o Panagiotis Bitados.
A journey that gives no respite
The course begins with a ferry jump into San Francisco Bay, followed by a 2-km swim where the currents could decide everything. In 2024, the waters helped keep the field compact, allowing for comebacks like Sam Long's.
The bike race is contested over six laps of the Presidio, including the climb past Chrissy Field and technical sections. The descents with tight turns require precise handling, especially in foggy or wet conditions.
Finally, four laps on foot on gravel roads at Chrissy Field allow spectators to follow the action up close.
Men: the Van Riel–Smith–Bogen trio, with Long's permission
Van Rail, current T100 champion, arrives in form after taking the podium in Singapore despite having run a HOMBRE DE HIERRO last week. Smith and Bogen joined him on the podium in 2024 and want revenge. Sam long who came as one of the favorites, will finally not participate in the test,
Among the wildcards, well-known names from the international scene stand out, such as Jamie riddle or the japanese nener, which could disrupt the favorites' plans if the race opens up.
Spanish will also be there Antonio Benito. In 2025, Benito has started the season strongly, obtaining a ssecond place at the IRONMAN Texas, only behind the Norwegian Kristian Blummenfelt, And a seventh place in the Singapore T100.
