Roquetas de Mar hosts the start of the FETRI National Leagues with 3.000 triathletes

The Almería municipality of Roquetas de Mar This weekend becomes the epicenter of the national triathlon by hosting the start of the Iberdrola and National Triathlon Club Leagues 2025.
A total of 3.000 triathletes will compete in the Iberdrola King and Queen's Cup in team time trial format, the Spanish Triathlon Relay Championship, and the tests of the Talent League FETRI in cadet and youth categories.
A massive event with new features on the circuit
The event brings with it a great novelty: the running segment will pass through the interior of the emblematic Roquetas Bullring, adding visual and symbolic appeal to the route.
For its part, the Romanilla beach will once again be the starting point for the swimming segment, while the Avenida Juan Carlos I and the Lowlands Park will concentrate most of the sporting activity.
Institutional presentation and local support
The presentation ceremony took place at the Roquetas Town Hall with the presence of Mayor Gabriel Amat, the Provincial Deputy María Luisa Cruz, as well as the FETRI Competition Director, Jorge García. All of them highlighted the importance of the event as a driving force for promoting sports and tourism, consolidating Roquetas as a “Triathlon City".
Gabriel Amat He stated that this event "not only places Roquetas as a benchmark for triathlon, but also allows us to showcase our wide range of tourist and cultural offerings." For his part, Maria Luisa Cruz He highlighted the role of these competitions in boosting active tourism on the Costa de Almería.

From FETRI, Jorge Garcia He noted that Roquetas is once again hosting "the competition with the highest participation and most valued by clubs throughout Spain." He also highlighted the added value of including the bullring on the route, "adding appeal to a city that offers much more than just the beach."

The 2025 national triathlon season promises thrills from the start.
The leagues by clubs, both in the elite and school-age categories, will tour key locations across the country, combining varied formats and offering competition opportunities at all levels.
Iberdrola Women's League and Men's National Club League
These leagues bring together Spain's best clubs over three weekends spread between May and July.
Each day includes different events (team time trial, relays, super sprint) that reward both strategy and team depth.
- Roquetas de Mar (May 10–11): Opening with the Iberdrola King and Queen's Cup (CRE by teams) and the Spanish Triathlon Relay Championship.
- Torremolinos (June 7–8): Second stop of the circuit, with the most explosive tests of the year: SuperSprint Triathlon by Clubs, 2×2 SuperSprint y Mixed Relay.
- Banyoles (July 12–13): Grand final of the leagues with the Club Triathlon and SuperSprint/Pairs Relays, in a perfect setting for triathlon. This is where the season's champions will be decided.
Triathlon Talent League
Designed for the categories cadet and youth, the FETRI Talent League promotes the competitive development of triathletes of the future.
Comprised of duathlons and triathlons in different formats, each day counts toward an overall club ranking.
- Avilés (March): The action started with the nationals of CRE Talents Duathlon y Talent Relays, marking the first positions in the table.
- Ciudad Real (April): Next stop with the Mixed Relay Duathlon Spanish Championship, a format that rewards understanding over individual performance.
- Roquetas de Mar (May): Start of the triathlon season with the CRE and Talent Relays, coinciding with the absolute leagues.
