The national season begins with the Fuente Álamo Triathlon

The Villa de Fuente Álamo International Triathlon will be held this Saturday, April 26 su Edition 33, officially marking the start of the national season.

The Murcian event, legendary for its toughness and tradition, will be qualifier for the Spanish Sprint Triathlon Championship.

The test brings together 70% of the national elite, with several top-level international players, Spanish champions, Olympians, and a large representation of young talents.

The men's elite category has had to be expanded to 200 places and yet there are athletes on the waiting list. In the women's category, the waiting list has also been exceeded. 100 participants.

David Cantero against everyone

The Valencian David cantero He starts as the clear favorite. He arrives as the fittest Spanish triathlete at the start of the year and dominates in all three disciplines.

 If anyone can overshadow him, it will be names with international experience such as David Castro, Antonio Serrat or the young Galician Jarno Pousada.

With them, Izan Edo, Pelayo Gonzalez, Cesc Godoy, Hector Tolsa, Andres Prieto, Diego Mentrida o Guillem Montiel they promise battle.

In girls: Pintanel and Juan, favorites

The women's category promises to be even more unpredictable. The international Marta Pintanel y Noelia Juan lead the list, but they will have to keep an eye on youngsters like Alejandra Segui, Maria Alzaga o Cristina Jiménez-Orta.

The toughness of the course, especially the climb to Alto de la Cuesta, could be crucial. Strong riders could break away from the group before reaching T2.

Furthermore, names like Paula Sánchez, Elsa Pena, Clara Aulinas, Lucia Acosta, Ana Carballo or the polish Alicja Ulatowska could spring a surprise.
