After testing in Abu Dhabi y Yokohama, the third date of the event arrives calendar, and does so with an Olympic distance test that promises strong emotions.
Weather conditions will also be a determining factor, as temperatures above 25 degrees are expected, which can affect triathletes' hydration and performance.
All eyes on Beaugrand, Potter and Hauser
In the women's competition, the focus will be on Cassandre BeaugrandThe French Olympic champion is returning after her fall in Yokohama, where she didn't have her best day.
Despite wearing the number 32 jersey due to her lack of points this season, no one doubts her ability to reach the top. The Frenchwoman already demonstrated last year that she can bounce back and string together important wins.
Your main rivals will be Beth Potter, Lisa Tertsch y Jeanne Lehair, all of them in top form and with recent podium finishes in this 2025 season.
A great performance is also expected from other triathletes such as Gwen Jorgensen, who is gradually returning to his best level, Leonie Periault, Annika Koch, Anabel knoll, Tanja Neubert and the surprising Diana Isakova, which has taken a qualitative leap forward in recent weeks.
In the men's event, all eyes are on the Australian matt hauser, who comes from sweeping Yokohama.
His solidity both in the water and on foot make him the man to beat. He will face again Basque Vilaca y Miguel Hidalgo, second and third in Japan, who are looking to take another step towards victory.
The French team arrives with a fearsome team: Léo Bergere, Dorian Coninx, Pierre Le Corre, Yanis Seguín y Tom Richard. Added to this list of candidates are names such as Tayler Reid, Hugo Milner y Jack willis, ready to surprise.

Spain attends with six representatives
The #TriArmada will have a strong representation in Alghero. In the men's category, they will be on the starting line. Roberto Sánchez Mantecón, David cantero, Antonio Serrat y David Castro.
Mantecón and Cantero made it to the top 10 in Abu Dhabi, demonstrating a very competitive level.
David Castro, for his part, is coming off a victory in Napier, which gives him confidence for this event. Antonio Serrat, a regular in these events, will try to get back into top form after a somewhat irregular start to the year.
In the women's event, our Olympians will compete Anna Godoy y Miriam CasillasTwo triathletes with extensive experience and a proven track record in WTCS races. Both arrive with the intention of being in the leading group and fighting for a top-10 finish.
Casillas, in particular, has demonstrated remarkable consistency in recent seasons, while Godoy has posted strong splits in cycling and running that could make the difference if he achieves a strong swim.
A technical circuit along the Mediterranean
The competition will take place on San Giovanni beach, an idyllic setting with crystal-clear waters.
The swim segment will consist of two 750-meter laps, with water temperatures ranging from 15,5 to 21 degrees Celsius, depending on the day's conditions.
The cycling section comprises nine laps of a winding and demanding course, with several short climbs, technical descents, and tight turns, which will require triathletes to maintain high concentration.
Transitions will also play a key role. Finally, the running segment will take place over four 2,5-km laps, traversing Alghero's historic center and its seafront promenade, offering a spectacular setting for spectators and participants.
The course is designed to challenge athletes who aren't in good physical condition and able to adapt to changes in pace. It will be crucial to be well positioned from the start to avoid breaks in the cycling groups and maintain a chance in the running race.
