Consequences of stimulant abuse for training

What happens if you abuse stimulants like tea or coffee to train?

Miguel Ángel Rabanal tells us in this article some points to keep in mind about the use of coffee and other stimulants in training.

Many athletes in the background, including triathletes, are addicted to certain stimulants such as caffeine or the theophylline, present in coffee and tea mainly. They have also become fashionable for certain products called pre-workouts very widespread in the world of gym and bodybuilding, whose composition includes pure caffeine, tea extracts, guarana and mate that predispose for exercise and activate us physically and mentally.

In principle, the consumption of caffeine and other similar stimulants is not harmful to health, but if you abuse them to train or to do the work of day to day, there is a double unwanted effect: on the one hand, they stop making that stimulant effect intended, as tolerance occurs with which the dose must be increased gradually, and on the other hand a daily consumption combined with situations of continued stress (something very common among triathletes who have to combine their training with a working day) causes the adrenal glands to be depleted and with it the production of certain key hormones in the training process such as adrenaline, noradrenaline, cortisol ..., and this implies that the body no longer responds in the same way to normal stress situations, establishing a situation of chronic fatigue, discouragement, irritability and poor performance in workouts and especially in the competitions

But surely you wonder what to do if you are already a dicto to coffee and to, and you can not live without them?

To this question I will answer in the next installment that we will title how to solve the addition to stimulants such as tea and coffee and thus improve sports performance without consumption?

Stay tuned and do not miss it!
