This Saturday is Ironman of Malaysia, one of the toughest of the franchise due to high temperatures and high humidity.

Saleta Castro search get a significant sum of points in Malaysia from each to take a step further to be in Kona 2018. Recall that this will be the second Saleta competition on its way to Hawaii, after being 5th in the past Ironman 70.3 of Cascais. In the male category there will be two Spanish representatives, Carlos Aznar y Eneko Elosegi.

The race is held on Langkavi Island, with a 2-lap swim on a 1,9km circuit in waters of the Andaman Sea, then 180 km practically flat where triathletes will tour the island on a 2-lap circuit. Finally, the 42,2 km will be a real hell, two 21 km laps with a large part of the route surrounding the airport where there will surely be no public, making the race even tougher. Last year Marcel Zamora managed to finish his 25th Ironman in Malaysia with a brilliant 6th place and in the interview that we did, he classified this competition as one of the toughest he had ever run “due to its extreme weather”

In male category the Swedish Fredrik Croneborg is the main favorite, next to the French Romain Guillaume, the Danish Jens Petersen-Bach and the German Christin Kramer. Carlos Aznar with the 8 number and Eneko Elosegi with the 14 will be the Spanish PROs on the starting line.

In the female category the Germans Diana Riesler y Mareen Hufe they are the main candidates for victory. For its part Saleta Castro (which was 5ª in 2015) arrives with great confidence as he showed in the Maastricht Ironman where he achieved victory.
