Spain, world champion of mixed relay triathlon in Cozumel

Exceptional triumph of the Spanish team in the Triathlon ITU World Championship by Mixed Relay in the junior and Sub23 categories.

 

A spectacular victory fostered in the enormous work of the four components of the Spanish team and brilliantly solved by David Castro in a portentous last relay in which he has been climbing positions in a test that has been held on the Mexican island of Cozumel this Saturday 17 September.

Spain has been represented by Inés Santiago, Antonio Serrat, Cecilia Santamaría y David Castro A competition that was vibrant because of its dizzying mixed relay format, in which each of the four components of each team has made 250 m swimming, 5 km cyclists distributed over two laps and a final race to 1,6 km foot before handing over the baton to his teammate.

Inés Santiago was in charge of opening the competition for Spain, completing a superb first relief and surrendering the witness in second position to a second short of the leaders, the French team in an extremely equal race in its beginnings. Next came Antonio Serrat, in a disputed second stage.
