This weekend the penultimate meeting of the Triathlon World Series en Montreal (Canada) where Mario Mola part as leader (4.850 points) and whatever happens will be presented at the Grand Final as world leader.
Mario is presented as the opponent to beat, after his two consecutive victories en Edmonton y Hamburg (both in sprint distance). Although Fernando Alarza after the show with his comeback in the European Championship he comes very strong and he will fight to be at the top.
Montreal is the last test of the WTS before the Grand Final in Gold Coast so all the triathletes will try to discard their worst result to date. Remember that the 5 scores better results besides the position obtained in the Grand Final
The test will be held over Olympic distance, where this year Mario has achieved victory in Yokohama and a second place in Leeds. Also his worst place this year a quarter in Bermuda got it at this distance.
The fight for the second and third place is exciting because Jacob Birtwhistle occupies the third place and is only 565 French points Vincent Luis which is second and will not participate in Montreal. Finishing well on Sunday would put within his reach the possibility of reaching his first podium of the WTS Championship. Richard Murray it's fourth and it's just 160 Birtwhistle points
We can not forget Fernando Alarza, fifth in the general and only 138 points on the podium. Fernando, who has been out of the competition due to an injury, has already shown his recovery in the past European Championship with his comeback in the foot race that earned him the second place.
The rest of Spanish participation complete it Vicente Hernández, Antonio Serrat y Francesc Godoy .
As for the women's event, we are going to see an exciting final stretch of the WTS as four different women have climbed to the top of the podium in just six races,
Katie Zaferes will start as leader of the Series with 4.170 points, 591 points more than Vicky Holland. Zaferes is worth being among the first six to reach the Grand Final as leader of the Series
Other triathletes to consider are Ashleigh Gentle, winner last year, Rachel Klamer (third in the Ranking), Kirsten Kasper, Jessica Learmonth o Georgia Taylor-Brown among other. These three women are only separated by 269 points, so this test may mean changes in the classification for the Grand Final. The test will not have Spanish representation.
