Mireia Belmonte, godmother of the Challenge Barcelona-Maresme

The swimmer Mireia Belmonte, double Olympic medalist in London, has sponsored today the Challenge Barcelona-Maresme, triathlon test that will bring together more than 1.400 participants.

The fourth edition of the Challenge will be held on the next 30 day in September with a start in the town of Calella, and incorporates as a novelty a circuit that runs through fifteen municipalities in the Catalan region of Maresme, from Santa Susanna to Montgat, the scene today of the presentation of the event.

Mireia Belmonte has been the luxury godmother of this triathlon long-distance ironman format (3.800 meters of swimming, 180 kilometers by bicycle and 42 kilometers running).

“I have not seen many triathlon competitions, but I admire this sport. Training three sports in a row is very hard, I just swim and it's already very hard. What triathletes do is very difficult ”, commented Belmonte, who has already resumed, albeit gently, his training.

The Challenge Barcelona-Maresme has been recognized twice as the best triathlon event in Spain and next year it will be European headquarters, which makes it a consolidated competition within the calendar.

“We organized a great sporting event of international scope. The best European triathletes will return to our house", commented the director of the event, Agustí Pérez.
