World Triathlon has already established the new dates for the start of the olympic qualification period and Paralympic for the Tokyo Games.
The Olympic Qualification Period remains open until June 21, while the Paralympic Qualification Period is open until July 15.
This new Olympic qualification period gives athletes the opportunity to compete in a total of 6 events, including the WTS events in Yokohama and Leeds; the World Cups in Osaka, Lisbon, Arzachena and Huatulco.
The rest of the Continental Championships and Mixed Relay Olympic qualification events are also scheduled to take place during the qualification period.
The ranking positions were frozen in March 2020 due to the impact of the pandemic that made athletes have to limit their training and travel, in addition to the various cancellations or postponement of many events.
The Word Triathlon events that took place in late 2020, such as the World Championships, did not count towards the Olympic and Paralympic rankings.
In addition, the Paralympic qualification process also begins on May 1 with 4 events, including the Para Triathlon World Series and Paratriathlon World Cups.
