The Association of professional cyclists launches a campaign for the safety of cyclists

Subway and a half of separation is the minimum distance required by law when overtaking a cyclist, a detail that some drivers ignore or forget too often causing accidents of fatal consequences for the weakest of the road: the cyclist.

Together with minimum distance of one and a half meters is essential to overtake the cyclist or a group of cyclists, There is another guarantee that very few know, and that is that the cyclist can be overtaken occupying part or all of the opposite lane even in those sections with a continuous line, as long as the maneuver does not compromise the safety of the cyclist or the rest of the drivers, and this to guarantee respect for the meter and a half.

Complying with the law would be enough for the cyclist to avoid one of the worst situations to which he can be subjected: receiving the impact on his body of a mass of hundreds of kilos thrown at speed.

The body of the cyclist is his own body. There's no more. To receive this type of impacts, by its very nature, always has serious consequences.

From the ACP call on drivers in Spain to always remember that, for education, precaution and safety, when overtaking a cyclist or a group of cyclists, one and a half meters is the minimum distance that life gives us .

This new campaign of the ACP is identified with a modern logo in which a cyclist, identified with the colors of the Association, rolls on a bicycle whose wheels resemble two hearts and the text "Give me a meter and a half of life".
