Everything ready for the first edition of Ironman 70.3 Lanzarote

This Saturday the first edition of Ironman 70.3 is held, a triathlon event from the American brand, in which just half the distances are covered than in a conventional Ironman. About 800 participants from 45 countries are expected to take the departures.

The tests will take place in the surroundings of the Club La Santa sports center. The swimming competition is held entirely in the lake. The cycling test starts from there and runs through a good part of the north of Lanzarote, also ending in La Santa.

The final finish line of the Ironman 70.3 will be at the Club La Santa stadium, which the triathletes will cross after completing the half marathon. Among the best-known triathletes who start as favorites are the Belgian Bert Jammae (winner of the Ironman Lanzarote 2008-2009) and the Spanish Víctor del Corral, who apart from racing "at home" won the Ironman Lanzarote this year, Iván Raña who debuts this year in Media Distancia and Alejandro Santamaría who is eager after his participation in Kona.

Ronnie Schildknecht, 6-time winner of the Ironman Switzerland and who was the first man to break the 8-hour barrier in an Ironman, will also be part of the race.

In the Women's category, Michelle Vesterby (winner Ironman Lanzarote 2012), Bella Baylisson (winner Ironman Lanzarote 2008-2009) and the Spaniard start as favorites. Saleta Castro.
