How to make transitions triathlon? By Victory Endurance

Triathlon is a sport that combines three different sports disciplines and the point of union between one and the other is what we call transitions.

Our collaborator Victory Endurance gives us in this article some tips to improve in this important segment in a duathlon or triathlon.

This period between sport and one must train in order to reduce the time in the competition and get more out of our performance, so, here are some tips to successfully overcome transitions in triathlon.

  • Remember our place in the pits and make visible the number of dorsal to locate it quickly.
  • Raise the glasses to the head as soon as we get out of the water and only remove them next to the cap in the transition zone, where it is authorized to leave it in the corresponding drawer.
  • While we get out of the water and go to the pits to ride a bike, we can take advantage of the top part of the neoprene (arms and trunk) while we continue running to get closer to the pits.
  • Once we get to the box we can remove the neoprene from the lower part of the body and also, we put on the helmet and we fasten well so as not to be penalized later.
  • We unhook the bike and take it from the saddle or handlebar to jump on it after passing the riding line.
  • It is not advisable to run beside the bike because we can stumble and hit with the pedals.
  • We can fasten the shoes while we start pedaling and we are on top of the bike, as well as undoing them and taking off their feet during the last stretch of cycling while we finish it.
  • Disassemble the bike just before the dismantling line, so as not to be penalized.
  • Run to the box to hang the bike again taking the same for the top of the saddle or handlebar as we did before.
  • Leave the bike in place and remove the helmet leaving it also in the box drawer enabled for this purpose. Place the shoes that fit have adjustable laces to not delay holding them in full competition and delay the race.
  • It is advisable to bring another suit or swimsuit under the neoprene that will be used to mount a bike and race, as well as having the shoes already placed on the bike so that we do not have to put them on before going up.
  • Train the transitions in order to make them as fast as possible and reduce the time taken to replace the accessories for each discipline. Never lose your calm because with them you will lose time in sudden and unfortunate movements.

The triathlon requires like any other sport of much training and since in the transitions we can add many seconds that delay the competition, we must include them in the trainings and know that the clothing can be of great help when successfully overcoming the links as well as agility and practice
