Flu and sports by Victory Endurance

In an infectious process, as a rule, no type of sport should be done, especially in certain situations such as the presence of fever.

Our collaborator Victory Endurance gives us some tips for the prevention of this type of diseases

Introduction:

La flu o influence is a Infectious disease de birds and mammals caused by a type of RNA virus for the family  of theOrthomyxoviridae which comprises five genders:

·      Influenzavirus A
·      Influenza virus B
·      Influenzavirus C
·      Isavirus
·      Thogotovirus

Only the first three (influenzaviruses) cause the flu. The general nomenclature of influenza viruses as types A, B, or C is based on antigenic characteristics of the nucleoprotein (NP) and matrix protein antigens (M) for each genus. Each genus in turn is subtyped and the strains or subtypes.

The infection by influenza gives a series of symptoms, depending on the type of virus and it differs clearly from a catarrhal picture that is also by a virus (rhinovirus, ...) (1-2 table)

The treatment of influenza is usually symptomatic. From SportSalud we recommend using treatments without side effects, such as the use of medicinal plants such as echinacea or products such as propolis, or homoephatic treatments such as osccilococcinum, grip-heel, engystol, ... With these treatments we not only act at a symptomatic level but we also act at the level of the cause, since these treatments have proven their effectiveness in various publications.

Sports and Flu:

In an infectious process, as a rule, no type of sport should be done, especially in certain situations such as the presence of fever. Clearly, a medical assessment must be made to determine the type of infection, degree of involvement, symptomatology, ...

The presence of fever always contraindicates the practice of physical activity for different reasons. Fever causes, in addition to being bad, causes a slight process of dehydration. On the other hand, fever itself causes rhabdomyolysis, which is muscle destruction. For both reasons, not only exercise is contraindicated, but rest is also recommended, until improvement.

Other viral processes such as colds, can be observed a temporary improvement of the symptom picture (nasal congestion, ...)
