"1, 2, 3...to roll" have been the words pronounced by Miguel Indurain to give the exit to the return of the popular sport, acindividual mountain bike time trial in which he later took the exit himself.

"The important thing is the return of popular sport"

Miguel Indurain highlighted the importance of this event to return to the normality that we so much desire. "I am not very fit because I do not like the roller and I have hardly trained and that is why I am going to take it easy, although the least important thing today is the time spent, the important thing is the return of popular sport".

Who had trained a lot during the confinement is the former footballer Robert Solozabal who did not want to miss the return to competition. “My neighbors have suffered from the noise of my roller every day and I think they wanted me to return to an outdoor competition more than I did".

Santander Reset has been custom designed to meet standards imposed as a result of the health crisis. A 5,5km time trial in which each participant has taken the departure individually and by appointment to avoid crowds.

As well schedules for sports practice have been respected, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. is the reserved time for those over 70 to take to the streets and in this test only one runner took the start before 12 a.m. because he is over 70 years of age.

Javier Sanchez "Pelu" who is also runner-up in the European Master 70, was nervous "I haven't put on a bib number for three months and the truth is that I'm a little nervous, plus I have the pressure to finish before 12 noon, since after that time grandparents can't play sports".

Madrid in Phase 2

The test has scrupulously complied with all the measures of phase 2 in which the Community of Madrid is.

Safety distance, taking temperature to all runners, face masks at the start ... both the public and the participants have complied with the rules dictated by the organization, demonstrating that with responsibility and civility, the popular competition is ready to return.
