XTERRA Pyrenees. La Guingueta d'Àneu (Pallars Sobirà), stage of XTERRA in 2024

Pallars Sobirà are preparing to host one of the most exciting sporting events of the year: XTERRA Pirineu 2024.

On June 1, La Guingueta d'Àneu will become the epicenter of the mountain triathlon for athletes and outdoor enthusiasts.

The experience promises to be unique since participants will be immersed in an exceptional natural environment, at the gates of the Aiguestortes National Park and the Alt Pirineu Natural Park, characterized by being high mountain landscapes and great wealth of fauna and vegetation.

The program for XTERRA Pirineu proposes a demanding challenge with segments of 1.500 meters of swimming, 31 km of mountain biking and an 11km trail run.

Jordi Palle, mayor of Guingueta d'Àneu states that: ““We have opted for and we really like the XTERRA Pirineu project to promote sports among young people, make our natural heritage known and energize the municipality.”

Nico Lebrun, former XTERRA World Champion and XTERRA Global Technical Director, expresses his enthusiasm: “XTERRA Pirineu will be our first race in the Pyrenees mountain range. Spain has a long history in triathlon, mountain biking and trail running, so we know that cross triathlon and XTERRA have a bright future here.

Following the successful debut of XTERRA Costa Brava last year, we are delighted to continue discovering this incredible country with our partner OCISPORT."

Albert Balcells, Director of Ocisport states that “XTERRA Pirineu offers an event in a spectacular mountain environment that will delight off-road triathlon lovers who will be able to discover demanding routes with the reward of progressing in places close to the Parc Natural de l'Alt Pirineu and the Aigüestortes National Park."

The XTERRA World Tour is a premier global off-road triathlon circuit designed to give elite and amateur racers the opportunity to take on the toughest terrain in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, the Americas and the Asia region. Pacific as they compete for the right to take on the world's best at the XTERRA World Championship.
