Can it be dangerous to take a lot of magnesium?

Orally it is not dangerous

Our collaborator AMLSPORT gives us the answer to this question so common among athletes.

In order for their ions to get into the blood, we need transporters that are proteins that we have in the wall of the intestine, which naturally are in limited number, and ions that have not been taken by a carrier to take them to the blood, they are still in the intestine.

But since they have 2 positive charges and the water molecules are polar, surrounded by these molecules they continue in it, making the stool more watery and consequently easier to pass.

That is, most (it is thought that two thirds) that we do not need is eliminated with faeces and a small part with urine.

With these lines, Ana Maria Lajusticia solves the doubts about the intake of more magnesium in the diet.
