Mario Mola "I will do my best so that in 2015 there is a change of cycle"

Mario Mola is consecrated as the future of international triathlon to achieve the runner-up in Edmonton

"Noya deserves the title more than anyone else; to have overcome him in some race fills me with pride "

Mario Mola has completed this weekend a historic participation of Spanish athletes in the World Series of triathlon to achieve the runner-up. Followed by the spotlights since his breakthrough in international competitions, Mola appears as the future champion of this specialty and lets see his intentions for the next season.

- You have a great season in the World Series with your first triumph and the second place. What rating do you make?

The balance of the season has been very positive. Last year I got my first podium in the world championship and this year we have achieved a victory and second place in the general classification. It is something that a few years ago it was difficult for me to even think and now we have achieved it, so we have to enjoy it and think about the next one.

-Gómez Noya has taken his fourth title. Is he invincible?

Javi deserves this title more than anyone and I'm very happy for him. He is, without a doubt, the most complete triathlete of all and I admire him very much. But I work to be able to win it and this year I managed to do it in a race, which makes me very proud as it is probably the best triathlete in history.

-As Noya happened to Raña, everyone expects you to do it with Javier. Is it an added pressure?

The simple fact that I can be compared to him already fills me with pride, but it does not generate pressure. Achieving what has been achieved is very difficult, so I focus on improving day by day, which is the only method I know in order to achieve victories.

-Your races go from less to more and you are the great dominator in the race stage. Can we nickname Mr. Remontada?

Hahaha ... The truth is that I would like to always be ahead and not have to go back. That way he could be calmer during swimming and cycling, and therefore with greater chances of victory in all races. Going back is more by obligation than by pleasure.

-Every season you are closer to the championship. Do you think there will be a cycle change in 2015?

In 2015 I will give my best once more to be as high as possible in the classification. I do not know if it will be the cycle change or not, but I will certainly do everything possible because it is so. I am ambitious and I set myself that goal.

-As an athlete, is success to win or exceed the expectations you raise?

The goal is always to improve oneself, but in this sport we all want to win. Success is knowing that I have given everything and that I have done everything possible to improve.

-What drives you to continue improving?

If you do not think about improving it is very difficult to be motivated to achieve any goal that you set. In my case, what motivates me is winning races, but the key to achieving them is daily training, and that is where I am most self-demanding to improve.
