Gustavo Rodríguez: "Cycling competitions awaken us a side that we have there asleep"

We interviewed Gustavo Rodríguez, to learn firsthand about his upcoming competitions and goals as well as a little more about his training.

After a great 2014 season, you are starting strong in the 2015, competing again in cycling and winning in several duathlons. This weekend you will compete in the cycling back to Lleida. Do you think it is compatible with Triathlon training?

It is clear that each triathlete is different. In my case, my origins are in cycling and this has been the sector in which I have most stood out and in which I have marked the most differences. If I do not want to lose this rhythm and that cyclist instinct, I notice that I need to get into these races and recover those sensations.

Probably a triathlete who has not been a cyclist will help him gain some confidence when it comes to moving in platoons and give him a plus rhythm ... but to the people who come from this, I am convinced that we are awakened by a side that we have there asleep ... so a couple of days of competition we get much out of it.

Why have you chosen these tests as training? The rhythms of the cyclist squad, do you think they benefit you for the medium and long distance triathlon?

As I said, the pace that these races give you is a very good bonus for the medium and long distance. Although for me it is more important the sensations that awaken in my body.

You could not compete in the Du LD Spain Championship where you would have gotten a good position. What are your next races?

In principle, the Du LD Spain Championship was not in my plans. However, they were going out very good training on foot and by bike and the following week I was competing in La vuelta ciclista a Murcia, so I decided to get off early and sign up at the last minute. Unfortunately, the quota was already closed.

And the objectives of this season? Will you bet on the long distance?

The first part I will focus on the MD With Elche, Pamplona Bilbao And Zarauzt. Then, if everything goes well, I'll focus on the long run in the second part. It is an account that I have pending. A distance that I love, but I notice that until now I have won the game ... we will have to change it

Tell us the training that you like most in each discipline in the triathlon

Swimming, any short series training style 20 × 100 with 1'30 "recovery with Aida taking me to the limit.

In Bici I love the feeling of long runs for some lost route between the mountains ... of those that seem to escape civilization during 5 or 6 hours

And running I get hooked by the feeling of speed of the competition. Or of the long series at the rhythm of competition ... the short ones are passed from agonies !!! Jejej
