Antonio Cardona and Elia Roda, Andalusian champions in the Half Triathlon of Seville

They took the exit 800 triathletes, who have fought during the afternoon against the wind and high temperatures

The II NutriSport Half-Triathlon of Seville, the third round of the Europa FM Circuit, has crowned Antonio Cardona and Elia Roda as Andalusian champions.

The waters of the Guadalquivir River, at the height of CAR de la Cartuja, witnessed the beginning of this test. 800 triathletes jumped into the water on a hot afternoon. The Spaniard Victoriano Raso soon took the head of the race by swimming, and completed these first 1900 meters in the lead, with an advantage of 30 seconds over Pedro Lumbreras and 1'14 over Javi Iglesias.

They faced from there perhaps the hardest part, the 90 kilometers of bicycle, which were even more complicated due to the strong wind that has hit during the whole route. This was where the comeback began, which would ultimately be the winner, Antonio Motona from Cardona, who was already in the lead at the 60 kilometers. The second transition came as leader, with a mattress of almost 4 minutes on Javi Iglesias and more than 5 on Raso.

The positions would not change after the 21 kilometers of running on the route of the Isla de la Cartuja. Antonio Cardona entered victorious in goal, thus happening in the palmares of the Half Triathlon of Seville to Josemi Pérez and proclaiming himself, also, Andalusian champion of medium distance. After him they would arrive Javi Iglesias y Victoriano Raso.

The new champion of Andalusia was exultant: "Last week I was at the Lanzarote Ironman and I had to retire due to a mechanical problem. This race did not have it in the calendar, but I decided to come because I had not worn out. The truth is that in the water I've had a little bad but then I recovered on the bike. Despite the wind, I felt good. In the 3 kilometer of the running race I was about to retire, by a pull on the pyramid, but I managed to recover and keep going".

In the women's category, Beatriz Jiménez and Marta García took the head of the race from the moment they threw themselves into the water, with a margin of just 15 seconds between them when they got on the bike. But a breakdown of the leader Jiménez made him lose two minutes and allowed Garcia to take the lead. But, as in the men's event, the danger would come from behind. Elia Roda It went from less to more and right in the second transition was placed in the lead, starting the half marathon with just two seconds on Beatriz Jiménez. But this one had to retire to the few kilometers when not being well. With which, served on a plate the victory to the Almeria Elia Roda, who crossed the finish line victorious.
