The Spanish Federation of Triathlon and Boxing collaborate in a novel project of sports psychology for elite athletes

The objective of this program is to help athletes face pressure situations

The Spanish Triathlon Federation and the Spanish Boxing Federation are collaborating on a novel project to boost the progression of the triathletes awarded in the High Performance Center of Madrid.

Generating new synergies of cooperation, the triathletes are training with Javier Pardo, technical and physical trainer of the national boxing team, in a psychological activity that seeks to converge several common aspects for high level athletes.

Through several sessions that take place twice a month and last until March, the athletes of the national triathlon team will complete their training with a series of activities that will help them to cope with pressure situations, and provide them with tools to improve their tactics in competition and serve as an impulse and motivation for our young athletes. The activity is coordinated by Manuela Rodríguez Marote, psychologist of FETRI.

All this through tools based on the training of another sport such as boxing. "From the Spanish Triathlon Federation, we appreciate the commitment and support of the Spanish Boxing Federation in the development of this innovative initiative that will complement the training of our triathletes", admits José Hidalgo Martín, president of the Spanish Triathlon Federation.

In the words of Antonio Martín Galán, president of the Spanish Boxing Federation: "It is for us a pride to do our bit for the professionals of our team for training activities and support for elite athletes in our country, such as are those who participate in these sessions. Cross actions like this one between two federations, show that the sport synergies are possible and recommendable in the high competition ".

In a first stage, Cecilia Santamaría, Lucía Vergara, Sara Ruiz, Ana Carvajal, Andrés Cendán, Jesús del Val, Carlos Galisteo, Javier Romo and Javi Lluch, are the triathletes who are participating in this experience.
