Javier Gómez Noya and Gwen Jorgensen take the 1ª stage of the Island House Triathlon

Tonight the first stage of the Island House Triathlon was played under the Individual Time Trial format, with the distances of 300-7-2 where the victory was for the current ITU world champions, Javier Gómez Noya and the American Gwen Jorgensen. 

In the women's race the competition started very evenly, with Lisa Norden being the first to get out of the water after the 300m of swimming with a time of 4'11 '' (better time than 4 of the boys), followed by the world champion from Xterra Flora Duffy to 1 '' and Gwen Jorgensen to 2 '' from Norden. Later in the 7km of cycling Norden managed to increase the difference and with a time of 11'30 '' was planted in the T2 with 7 '' advantage over Duffy and 21 '' over Jorgensen who "relaxed" too much on the two wheels Knowing your power in the third segment.

As expected Jorgensen broke the competition in the race on foot, marking a partial 7'29 '' and took the victory in this first stage. A 6 '' of Gwen Jorgensen in second place Lisa Norden and 10 finished '' Flora Duffy. The fourth position was for Alicia Kaye less than 30 'of the winner, and the rest re girls entered more than 45' 'of the American Jorgensen.

 

In the men's competition Javier Gómez Noya started very strong, setting the best time 3'51 '' after the 300m of swimming, being the only one to drop 4 '. After Javi, at 9 '' Cam Dye arrived at T1 in second position and 15 '' from Noya did Richard Murray, Later in the 7km of cycling Dye got the best time and reached T2 in first position, with Noya at 1 '' and Murray at 12 ''.

Like the women's competition, the masculine one was decided in the race on foot with a spectacular Javier Gómez Noya that from the first meters Noya put land in the middle and went in search of the victory that would be achieved with a final time of 21'34 '' (6'46 '' in the 2k of running).

After Noya to 25 '' he finished Richard Murray in 2ª position already 32 '' of Noya the British Tim Don. On the other hand Cam Dye could not stand in podium positions and had to settle for the 4ª plaza at 35 '' de Noya. 5º was Leon Griffit and the rest of the rivals reached more than 1 'five-time world champion.

Tomorrow will be the second stage classified as distance "Olimpic Enduro", the triathletes will run an Olympic triathlon ... divided into three parts, that is, they will make a race of 500 + 13 + 3.3 three times in a row. The format is a real spectacle, as has been seen in Italy and Argentina where similar "Triple Fast Triathlon" competitions are held. Beware of the transitions that in this "Olimpic Enduro" can never be better said the 4 triathlon sector where surely they have great importance when it comes to not losing groups by bike ... or swimming.
