Less than a month for the third big Iberman LD challenge

The province of Huelva and the Portuguese Algarve will host a new edition of the long distance test, UNIQUE IN THE WORLD !!

The final stretch of the countdown has begun. The next October 3, Iberman Triathlon will hold the third edition of the long distance test that unites Spain and Portugal. In addition, it will do so with a number of participants much higher than the second edition.

The fact that this time the event is held in October, leaving behind the heat of summer, has motivated many triathletes, from all over the world, to register to enjoy a unique event endorsed by the organizational and participation success of the previous editions.

In addition, the economic impact of holding a sporting event of this kind is important, and even more so considering that it is a date outside the high season, thus contributing to the desire to break with the seasonality of tourism always expressed by different authorities and collectives.   

The swimming sector will take place in the Portuguese town of Montegordo and will be similar to the first edition. That is to say: two rounds to a route signaled right in front of the hotels to complete the 3,8 km planned.

After leaving the water, the participants will get on the bicycles and will face a route of 170 km, with two thousand meters of accumulated altitude, whose most demanding part will run through Portuguese soil. It will be at the beginning, crossing the towns of Castro Marim, Azinhal, Alcoutim, Mértola and Pomarao. Once the participants enter Spain through the town of El Granado, the last 50 km will be very favorable -normally with wind in favor-, which will allow them a certain respite as they pass through the towns of Villanueva de los Castillejos, San Silvestre de Guzmán, Villablanca and Ayamonte before facing the marathon.

Once in Ayamonte, the triathletes will start the walking tour of 42 kilometers in the direction of Portugal through the International Bridge. After leaving the bridge behind and crossing Castro Marim, there will be an urban circuit between Vila Real de San Antonio and the place of the exit, the Montegordo beach, where the finish line will also be located on this occasion.

It remains, therefore, just one month to celebrate the third edition of the Iberman Long Distance, a unique test that has been consolidated in the world of triathlon thanks to its policy of low prices and its organizational success, supported, among other things , in the support of the different institutions that, once again, turn over again with the test. In addition to always having an important media impact at a national and international level, Iberman received in its day the honor of being considered the Best sporting event of the year by the Huelva Sports Press Association.

The Sports Club Iberman, organizer of the event, confirms its commitment to triathlon despite the difficulty involved in the implementation of a test of these characteristics.
