35 Spanish dispute the Altafulla European Cup in Tarragona
Cesc Godoy and Ricardo Hernández in men and Camila Alonso and Sara Pérez in women lead the large Spanish representation in Altafulla.
This next Sunday 17 of July will compete in Altafulla (Tarragona) Triathlon European Cup, last of the three that are disputed in Spain in 2016 (together with Melilla and Madrid). The test is also Mediterranean championship.
The competition will be held under sprint distance, 750m of swimming, followed by 20km of cycling where the triathletes will give 4 laps to a hard 5km circuit to finish with 5km of running race.
In the men's category there will be 46 triathletes in the starting list, with half (23) Spaniards. The main favorites are Cesc Godoy y Ricardo Hernández by the Spanish delegation, together with the Hungarian László Tarnaithe Belgian Simo De Cuyper and French Felix Dechampt. Cite also the important representation of Spanish juniors, where stands out the junior European champion the Valencian Javier Lluch.
While in the female category there are 25 triathletes in the starting list, the Spanish representation being the most numerous with 12 triathletes. The main favorites are the tialina Alessia Orla and the Canadian Elisabeth Boutlin. On the part of the Spanish Camila Alonso y Sara Perez They are candidates to fight with the best. As in men, also highlight the participation of young juniors, such as Sara Guerrero o Ana Carvajal
The women's event will be the first to be contested, taking the exit to the 12: 15, while the men's test will start the 14: 00. The competition will be marked by the heat and humidity characteristic of these Mediterranean dates.
