Andi Böcherer it was raised today with the VI edition of the Challenge Fuerteventura in an exciting and demanding test with Will Clarke y Timo Bratchas his hunt. The multiple German triathlete who won medium-distance races recorded a time of 3.59.00, beating the second by 35 seconds and just over a minute the third competitor.

The race based in Playitas returned to offer a show due to its difficulty and the scenic beauty through which its route passes from windward to leeward in the south of the island. It also counted on the misfortune that this time the favorite Frederick Van Lierde. The Hawaiian Ironman champion two years ago had to leave the event when he was first at the end of the cycling stage after an unfortunate collision with a volunteer.

In women, the victory fell to Anja Beranek. The best long-distance German triathlete did the Fuerteventura Challenge at 4.29. 57, followed by its main rival  Enma Pooley. The world time trial cycling champion, world duathlon champion and silver medalist at the Beijing Olympics, reached the finish line one minute after the German. Pooley has been training since the end of the year for the Rio de Janeiro Olympics.

The Challenge Fuerteventura took place on a very good day for the practice of this thriving sport through a tough course that puts athletes to the limit. The climb to El Cardón was once again the most demanding area for runners and the one where the most photographers gathered for its scenic spectacle.

The Playitas-based competition once again brought together an important cast of stars such as world champions, Europeans, Olympic medalists or Ironman winners from Hawaii such as those mentioned above and others such as Markus Fachbach, Jonathan Ciavattelal, in addition to the young figures Brennan Towshend , Patrik Nilsson, Albert Moreno and Joe Kipper. The triathlon event in Fuerteventura welcomed some 200 participants representing 23 countries.

The news is given this year that the Challenge Fuerteventura, together with the Challenge Mogán-Gran Canaria, will be scoring events in the world championship organized by the renowned Challenge Family brand, which has 44 triathlons in more than twenty countries. The 'Theachampionship' opens on June 3, 2017 in the Slovak city of Samorin.

The Playitas competition, which this Saturday celebrates its sixth edition, will be the first scoring event of the world championship of this famous triathlon franchise, Likewise, the Challenge Mogán-Gran Canaria, which opens on September 17, will also add points to be in the great race of Samorín.

The presence of Fuerteventura and Mogán in this Challenge Family world championship is an important asset to increase the presence of European trathletes in the Canary Islands, who increasingly travel to the Archipelago to train and participate in its international events.

The Challenge Family and x-bionic® announced yesterday this new global medium distance triathlon event, a championship for professional triathletes and age group. Known as 'Thechampionship', the event will take place at the amazing x-bionic® sphere in Samorin, Slovakia, on June 3, 2017.
