Dear triathletes,

On Tuesday 28 at 13: 00 hours an email was sent to all triathletes enrolled in Triathlon Madrid KM0 and Triathlon San Lorenzo of El Escorial KM0 informing about the cancellation of the sporting event due to lack of viability.

I understand that you all ask what does lack of viability mean?

Two and a half years ago, Felipe Gutiérrez, a great knowledgeable person and lover of triathlon, proposed to a group of three shareholders of the Annapurna Sport company to do a test never seen in the discipline of long distance. The name that he imagined for the test (in one of his naps) was Triathlon Madrid KM0. The project was ambitious and not without difficulty, but we got down to work. The more ambitious a project is, the more obstacles you have and you need good professionals, which is why we include in the working group the best possible Technical Director (David García) and an eminence in terms of event production Miguel Jorge. The whole team was already there and we got to work.

To speak in a language that you surely understand as great athletes that you are, the obstacles are the difficulties that we knew we would have to face in the near future if we wanted the idea of ​​Felipe Gutiérrez to materialize. A priori, these obstacles were what prevented or the difficulty involved in the total or partial realization of Triathlon Madrid KM0. In fact, this is something natural that constantly appears in our lives and that depending on our attitude we can or can not overcome.

In the end, with strength and tenacity we succeeded. Triathlon Madrid KM0 2015 was developed and its result was excellent. A great experience for all of us who participate in it: triathletes, clubs, volunteers, organization, sponsors, Civil Guard, Civil Protection, Local Police, Municipalities of the Community of Madrid, Public Administrations, etc.

It was already done, the most difficult thing had been achieved, Triathlon Madrid KM0 was a project that was born to stay and become a triathlon of reference worldwide. If it is true that the economic investment had been strong and that the result had been negative, but we were aware that we were facing a project with a medium-long term future, that is, a "long distance" project.

The 2016 Project was built, improved and ready to once again stage an unprecedented triathlon in the medium and long distance. Everything is truncated when two of the shareholders who are part of Annapurna Sport decide, at the Extraordinary General Meeting that was held last Monday, to cease the activity and exercise their power of 66,6% of the shares over mine, which represents 33,3 ,XNUMX%. With your vote in favor of the cessation of the activity and mine against, on Tuesday I informed you that the test will not take place.

This does not exempt me from my responsibility to you, because even if your money is returned, you will never be able to be rewarded for all the hours of effort and sacrifice that you have dedicated to preparing this test, but much less your enthusiasm for crossing the finish line in the Royal Monastery of San Lorenzo de El Escorial and km 0 of Puerta del Sol.

Most athletes like us say that, sometimes, they encounter numerous obstacles before winning, they manage to win and succeed because they are not discouraged by their defeats, by their failures or by the difficulties they find to achieve success, they achieve it because they win obstacles and persevere in the face of them.

My obstacle has been 66% and without it I would have achieved the goal and my commitment to all of you. But since the absence of obstacles does not correspond to reality, I have to accept it, assume it and see in it a chance to grow and learn. For all this I am writing this statement, because I want to show my face, apologize and because I want you to know that I have done everything in my power so that you could fulfill your dream.
