Gorka Bizkarra: The arrival at the Madrid Triathlon KM0 are the things that most mark you in this test

In Madrid KM0 I got the best result to date in long distance.

Gorka Bizkarra tells us his feelings after participating in the past 27 of September in Triathlon Madrid KM0. He recognizes that the experience was very positive, achieving a total time of 10.10.33 minutes and consolidating his year as an elite athlete. We have previously interviewed Gorka in to know your preparation for the test.

In this sense, we would like to know better how he lived the race from within and his vision of a magical journey through the center of the capital.

What feelings did you have after the race?

My feelings were quite good. The only thing I had the typical Post-Ironman, a bit of fatigue and stiffness in the days following the test, but I think it was the LD Triathlon that I finished the best and I recovered the fastest.

Did you make the 12 placed within your category? Happy with the result?

Yes, the truth is that very happy. I'm still learning from this distance (Ironman), I still think I can get better and progress a lot.

What would you highlight of the course from the point of view of a triathlete who lives it in the first person?

Especially highlight hard bike, and also, arrival to finish are the things that most mark you in this test. I was surprised at how well everything was organized and the Civil Guard deployment, which made the bike sector well indicated throughout the tour.

Your times were: 1: 02: 40 Swimming, 5: 42: 27 Cycling and 3: 23: 17 Running on foot Are you happy with the result? Where do you feel most at ease?

Making a more specific assessment, I think the time in swimming is improvable, because normally in the Ironman I usually get off the time. I am happy on a bike, although I think that with a goat I would have done better in this circuit. In the race on foot, I passed in the first kms and then I paid in the second part, but in general I ended up happy with the result. If I have to choose, without a doubt, the bike is where I am best.

The reception of this test in the capital is very good and everything is transformed to receive the triathletes. How is the experience of crossing the center of Madrid and ending at the Puerta del Sol?

What can I say ... Hairs on end! it's a very nice ending, in the last 500 meters the public pushes you, it seems that you do not wear 10h of competition, you forget everything and you enjoy it a lot.

After the 5 tips you gave us to face the test:

Do not eat your head with the chrono. Go regulating all the time. Hydrate well and eat well. Enjoy the event, and especially the day-to-day training. Look at the developments on the bike, if they are hard ports, put the appropriate ones. Arrive rested and eager.

Would you add another one taking into account the characteristics of the competition?

Yes, I would add that for the characteristics of the test the best option on a bike is to go with a goat.

And next year, are you going to cheer up Madrid KM 0 2016?

Who knows, I would like, there is time, we must think it over.

To finish What other competitions do you have in mind for next year? Any short-term goal?

The objective of next year will be the Embrunman.

The short term goal will be the half marathon of Gasteiz (13 of December), in which I would like to be below the mark that I have in this distance. It would be nice to get off 1h23min in Half Marathon.
