Cycling legend Fabian Cancellara has teamed up with the TriStar International Triathlon Series organizers to offer focused cycling and beginner events.

The legend of cycling Fabian Cancellara he has gotten into the triathlon, but unlike other members of the professional squad like Andrew Talansky or Cam Wurf, more recently, Cancellara is not interested in competing, at least not professionally, according to the newspaper triathlete.com.

The man who is perhaps the greatest time trialist of all time believes that triathlon can be a lucrative business.

The Swiss superstar known to many as "Spartacus" became Partner of the newly reformed TriStar International Triathlon Series and together with their two partners, they hope to slowly and methodically build TriStar into one of the largest event organizers in the world of triathlon.

Surely some of you this name sounds, in fact, in Spain had several tests a few years ago. The franchise has been paused since 2012. Tristar started its journey in 2009 where He managed to organize 25 events with a total of 30.000 participants, in Europe, the Caribbean and South America. After the main investor will retire at the end of the 2012 season, the brand suddenly disappeared.

Now, thanks in large part to an investment of Cancellara, the series will return in 2018 with three events in the US UU., Switzerland and Italy. The Swiss event, held in Rorschach, was already held last year. Each test will have TriStar 111 options (1K swim, 100K bike, 10K race) and TriStar 55.5 (500m swim, 50K bike, 5K race), and all three events will host professional tests. The distance is recognized by the International Triathlon Union.

Cancellara and its business partners think that these distances will make it even easier to debut than in Olympic distance events, since swimming is usually the biggest barrier to start in this sport. “Swimming makes a big difference,” he says. “For me, Olympic distance swimming is very intense. The TriStar format allows a larger number of people to enjoy the triathlon experience.”

Cancellara and its partners They hope to expand the number of events each year, but they want to do it with care to avoid the mistakes of the past committed by TriStar. We can expect to see a couple of new races announced in Europe for 2019, with further international expansion at 2020 and beyond.
