Chronicle of the III Festrijump-Triathlon of Jumilla by Felipe Gutiérrez

Felipe Gutiérrez tells us what happened in the III Festrijump-Jumilla Triathlon

Surely some of you will not know how to place Jumilla on a geographical map, nor will you be able to place it on a triathlete plane.

Well, you do not know what you lose because both the wines with their designation of origin and their triathlon with their quality, effort, commitment and attention to the triathletes are at least two things that you should not lose. The wine appointment ... well when you want, the triathlon the last weekend of April

Two triathlons are held: one in distance "somewhat longer" than the Olympic and no drafting and a half where distances are adjusted to that middle distance.

An unmasked triathlon, a triathlon followed by the people of Jumilla and triathletes with the spirit "if you go repeat" ... just as with wine.

In addition this year the organizers gave the participants a bottle of wine and a "bottle" of triathlon, that is to create addiction.

THE OLYMPIC DISTANCE FOR ANA MARIBLANCA AND PEDRO JOSÉ ANDUJAR

Women's Podium in the Jumilla Triathlon

They were the first to leave the participants in that distance where the drafting had to be respected.

In women from the first meters it was Ana Mariblanca who took the test from those first strokes of swimming, to settle the final blow on the bike and run to "win as many boys as possible". In the end he only won 22 men.

While it was Pedro Jose Andujar who was in a great moment and solved the test with the good partial on the bike and knowing that behind came a strong Graham Baxter who is preparing the assault on the Ironman of Hawaii.

PAQUILLO FERNANDEZ-CORTES AND MONICA SANSANO LOS REYES DEL HALF

Male podium in the Jumilla Triathlon

The medium distance test came later than the Olympic distance. In the men's category, he returned to Jumilla to try to win and more after the retirement last year to an excellent triathlete who wanted to "get rid of that thorn" that he still had there.

Paquillo was well, very well swimming at the top and forcing himself to the maximum on the bike, I wanted to get to Jumilla with enough advantage to be able to run controlling the 20 km that was ahead.

And that made running through the streets of Jumilla, ran, I control where came the second classified, Luis Feliz who ran to cut minutes and at the end "maquillo" a bit the difference to be about 6 minutes from the Extremadura Paquillo.

At least Fernández-Cortes got what he has been thinking about for a year, winning in Jumilla.

While it was Mónica Sansano who dominated the women's test, she was also clearly in first position with a considerable advantage with the rest of the participants.

One more year JUMILLA fulfills its projects, surely next year those who have not gone well will be corrected as year to year thinking about the triathlete.

WE SEE IN THE 2016 ... and a wine from JUMILLA .... sure we all try.
