Gurutze Frades will contest IM Vichy

These days Gurutze is concentrated in the Sierra Nevada to prepare the second part of the season and we took the opportunity to talk with her.

La four-time champion of Spain LD started the year playing several cross trials in the Basque Country, highlighting the 7ª square in the Cto. of Euskadi of Cross Largo in Elgoibar (Guipuzkoa) and participation in the Cto. of Spain cross short by clubs. He also played the Cto. of Spain of duathlon LD in Orihuela (Alicante) where he finished in 3ª position.

Gurutze inaugurated the triathletic season also on the Alicante coast, specifically in Arenales 113 (Elche) where he obtained the 4ª plaza. Later he won in the two middle distance triathlons "from home", winning the Bilbao Triathlon and above all the most prestigious at national level, the Triathlon of Zarautz. He closed this first season with the 4ª position in the ITU World LD of Motala in Sweden.

Gurutze has told us that he is weighing running the Ironman 70.3 from Wiesbaben in Germany in early August, but that his next target is the Ironman of Vichy (France) which will be his second test of WTC (last year 9ª finished in Lanzarote) "As always, the objective is to get the best out of me on the day of the race. Depending on the result we will see to raise some higher goal. Obviously I dream of being able to dispute the IM World Cup in Hawaii, but I am aware that to be there the level is very high, but you have to try and measure yourself".

We remember what hard that is to qualify for Kona in PRO for a woman since only the best 35 go. To get an idea, this year will require more 5000 KPR points which means to win in some IM "Grand Slam" (Some Continental CTO, which are 4000 points) or win two IM's of the type that are disputed in Spain ... plus get 1000 more points in other IM or 70.3 tests.

From www.triatlonnoticias.com We always try to encourage and support all the triathletes, especially the PROs and GGEE who are trying to qualify for Hawaii.

We will be attentive to the performance of Gurutze in Vichy where we wish him the best.
