Héctor Guerra and Julia Bohn win the first edition of the Madrid Triathlon KM0

He has achieved a clear victory by reaching the finish line solo

 

 

At the 7: 51 in the morning, the horn sounded for the participants in the elite category where triathletes of the likes of Alejandro Santamaría, Gustavo Rodríguez, Diego Paredes or Héctor Guerra among others.

 

The triathletes faced the 3,8 km of swimming in the reservoir of Rio Sequillo in Buitrago de Lozoya, 180 km of cycling, climbing the ports of Morcuera, Guadarrama, Canencia and Cotos to finish with 42 km of foot race in Madrid Río with end in the KM0 of Puerta del Sol in the city of Madrid.

 

The first to leave the water was the triathlete from Alicante, Dani Múgica, followed by 2 minutes by a group led by David González, Alberto Codinach, Gustavo Rodríguez, Diego Paredes and Héctor Guerra among others. Alejandro Santamaría was a little behind less than 4 minutes at the head of the race.

 

Quickly the triathletes marched for the bike to travel the 180 km of route through the Sierra de Madrid where Héctor Guerra, one of the favorites, imposed a strong rhythm that allowed him to reach the head of the race and pass through the first port of Canencia in head, followed by Dani Múgica. Behind Gustavo Rodriguez was getting better and better and was cutting differences.

 

For the passage through La Morcuera, Héctor Guerra was still in the lead, followed by Dani Múgica to 4 minutes and Gustavo Rodríguez closer to Madrid. Diego Paredes passed in fourth position over 9 minutes away from the ticket.

 

In Madrid, the first to arrive at the T2 was Héctor Guerra, to celebrate the 42 km of the race on foot followed by Gustavo Rodríguez and Diego Paredes over 20 minutes.

Hector Guerra He managed to maintain his advantage by reaching the finish line alone with a final time 8: 39: 13 and getting the victory in the first edition of the Triathlon Madrid Km0. Finally  Gustavo Rodríguez  (8:57:38) managed to come back and reached the finish line in second position followed by Diego Paredes (9:03:22) occupying the third final position. Javier García Gómez  got the fourth position y Alejandro Santamaría finished in fifth position.

According to statements to Triathlon News in meta Hector tells us "The triathlon has been very hard, and I have to congratulate the organization for the good work done.

This has been my long distance triathlon and especially the first marathon that I have run. The final part was very hard and I only thought about finishing, but the heat of the audience helped me to finish, it was very exciting to run through the streets of Madrid. "

 

Diego Paredes tells us, "the circuit is very hard, but the race is spectacular, Triathlon Madrid KM0 has a lot of future"

 

In the women's category, the first triathlete was Kathrin Wlather followed by 2 seconds by Helena Herreo followed by Madrid's Eva Valero and Julia Bohn. Marching by bike to get the 3 together to the T2.

Currently in the last lap of the race Julia Bohn goes in 1º position, followed closely by Kathrin Wlather and Helena Herrero to more than 6 minutes

Finally the veteran Julia Bohn was imposed on his compatriot Kathrin Walther taking the victory with a final time 10: 27: 51 followed by the Spanish Helena Herrero (10: 35: 46) and Kathrin Walther (10: 49: 06) in third final position.
