Javier Gómez Noya qualified for the Rio Olympic Games.

The so-called "Rio Test Event" could not have been better for Javier Gómez Noya, given that he managed to cross the finish line at 1ª position, giving a tremendous sense of superiority.

It can be said that the ideal script for the current world champion has been fulfilled. Javier Gómez Noya He was in the top 10 in the swimming phase, after which a group of 12 was formed for the tough cycling circuit. In each of the 8 laps, a hill had to be climbed on both sides: on the way out through a very steep street with 20% unevenness points and on the return more stretched but longer.

In that leading group there was not only good understanding, but it left very quickly, since four of the initial members fell off the hook. Of the seven who stayed with Javi, two were worrying for the 3rd phase: the Olympic champion Alistair Brownlee and Frenchman Vincent Luis, undoubtedly the revelation of the 2015 World Series, winner of the recent Hamburg event ahead of the Spanish.

Behind a platoon was formed with almost 50 triathletes, which had to be taken as much advantage as possible given that the other great specialists in the walking phase were in it: Mario Mola and the South African Richard Murray. By leaving the bikes 1'40 ”was the difference, which made it clear that the victory was among those in the leading group. From the first kilometer, Javi, Brownlee and Luis left the other five behind.

But to the general surprise the Briton lost contact shortly after, being in a heads up as in Hamburg between Javi and the French 26 years, European Champion and World Junior in 2008. But although in distance Sprint has already managed to beat Javi, in the Olympic it still does not have the potential to do it if the Spaniard is on top.

When starting the 3ª lap of 2'5km he began to stretch the rubber to break in the 4ª, in which the Spaniard limited himself to maintain a few 15 seconds of advantage which allowed him to face the final straight with margin to celebrate it.

Behind, Richard Murray starred in a spectacular comeback, scoring the best partial to finish 3º. While Alistair Brownlee proved not to be full as it fell to the 10ª square surpassed by several of the 2º group. He certainly paid for the lack of competition (it was the 31 in May in London), but he is still a fearsome enemy, as well as the French, facing the last three dates of the circuit in Stockholm, Edmonton and Chicago

Being in the Top 3 had a place in the JJOO for the country, something that was not necessary anyway given that taking into account how is the world ranking, Spain is assured of the maximum quota of 3.
