Gómez Noya will defend the leadership in Yokohama.

On Saturday May 16 (13pm local, 6AM in Spain) the fifth round of the World Triathlon Series will be held in this Japanese city, at which Gómez Noya arrives as leader. Located 25 kilometers south of Tokyo, it is a regular setting for the World Series, which also brings back great memories for the Galician: he was 3rd in 2009, 2nd in 2012 and 2013 and 1st in 2014, in that unforgettable and emotional sprint against the Majorcan. Mario Mola.

After the previous race in Cape On April 26, he stayed for two more weeks in South Africa with his coach Carlos David Prieto and some of his regular group mates. They traveled to Japan last Sunday with the necessary notice to get used to the new schedule: “I trained very well these weeks after Cape Town. I feel strong and I hope to be aspiring for victory in Yokohama. The main objective is to add the maximum possible points for the general".

The triathlon It is disputed over the Olympic distance (1,5-40-10) with the same routes as in previous years: 2 swimming laps in the bay, 9 cycling and 4 on foot. Urban circuits with many curves and the added risk that the rain expected for Saturday can entail. Of the rivals, it is worth highlighting the absence, as in South Africa, of the former leader of the circuit Jonathan Brownlee. But with his older brother Alistair in the running, it is clear that he will go full throttle from the first stroke.

This competition will be the end of the long journey of 3 months (from mid-February) outside of Spain, with triathlons in Arabia, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. So finally next week he will sleep at his home in Pontevedra.
