Josep Torres the "revelation-confirmation" of Valencia113

Josep got the tecer position in the Spanish MD Championship in Valencia113

A couple of weeks ago, the Championship of Spain of Average Distance in Valencia, where we were struck by the magnificent third place of the young Josep Torres. After the race, I went to congratulate him on the result and I had the chance to chat with him, to whom I confessed that I did not know him and that his bronze medal had been a great surprise.

After a few days, more quietly we have talked with him to get to know him better and that the readers of www.triatlonnoticias.com who still do not know you can know a little more about this young Balearic triathlete.

- Good morning Josep, what's up? Have you already recovered well from the hot and humid Championship of Spain of MD in Valencia?

Yes, the truth is that it was a very hard race but I am already quite muscular recovered but the fatigue of the effort is still in the body.

- As I told you after the race, I was very happy about your "surprise" on the podium since I did not know you, but these days I have been reporting well and the truth that you saw a result of this type.

The truth that I've been several years getting some good results but not getting to the podium, but I still had to excel in some important race, since in other competitions for some reasons or others did not get despite being well prepared.

- How were your beginnings in triathlon?

I started a little late, with 15 years. As a child I had played soccer and handball ... until a friend proposed to me to try a triathlon and from that moment I fell in love with this sport until today.

- Who is your coach? Where are you train?

My coach is Javier Bonet, the person who is in charge of planning my workouts and getting the best out of me. This 2015 I have moved to live in Mallorca, thanks to Ferrer Hotels Sports & Fitnnes (sponsor of my team, which has the same name). In addition, Ferrer Hotels allows me to work with them, where I have very good schedules that allow me to perfectly combine training and competitions. The truth is that I am very grateful for all the support you give me.

-A part of Ferrer do you have any sponsor or help?

Yes, I also want to highlight the help of Náutica Ereso in Ibiza that since my beginnings in the triathlon has always supported me. Transportes Juan Bufí new sponsor this season. Mizuno who helps me with his great sports equipment, which I am delighted with. And Fran from Vidasport who has always helped me in everything he could.

- In 2013, when you were only 20 years old, you already had a very good result in the ExtremMan in Menorca, and last year you shone in the spring in a Middle Distance in Malaga and then you were the U23 Champion of Spain in MD. How have your competitions been prior to Valencia113?

In April I ran the International Triathlon of Portocolom111 where I achieved a great second position in a race where there were several international elite triathletes. At the end of the same month I went to Challenge Fuerteventura where the race from the beginning did not go as I wanted, I felt as if I had no strength. Later in late May I competed in the Half Challenge of Salou, a race where I was very well prepared but I could only be 14º, a week after Salou I ran in Mallorca the Irontri where I finished in second place behind Marcel Zamora.

- And to finish this first block of the season ... Valencia Middle Distance Spain Championship, where you achieve the bronze medal How did you feel in the race?

In swimming I came out in a third group, a few seconds ahead of Raúl Amatriain with whom I did the whole bike segment, pedaling hard… but we couldn't cut any second from the leaders. Emilio Aguayo the winner did the same time on the bike as me. Later, after T2, Raúl went out of control, at a very strong pace, I decided to hold on for a bit since if I had tried to follow him it could have taken its toll on me. And the decision was right… since in the last kilometers I felt very well and I managed to overtake several triathletes until I reached 3rd place. As icing on the cake I was able to repeat the sub23 title, so it was a very good race where I finished very happy.

- What tests do you expect to run from here to the end of the season?

The week after the Spanish Championship take it very quiet as "week of recovery". Then I will probably run some sprint triathlon in Mallorca so I do not fall asleep too much (hehehehe) at the end of August I will play at Half de Guadalajara, in mid-September I will play Half Menorca and close the season at home in the Championship. of Spain of LD in Ibiza (www.triatlonibiza.com) a test that has returned to the calendar, and that the participants will be waiting for some very nice circuits as well as hard ones.

- Thank you very much for the interview Josep, we wish you the best and we send you a lot of encouragement.

Thanks to you and greetings to all the readers of www.triatlonnoticias.com
