Mario Mola and Carolina Routier get the victory at Garmin Barcelona

Today near 4.500 triathletes have taken the streets of Barcelona to enjoy the Triathlon in its purest state in Barcelona.

Mario Mola (Mallorca, 1990) managed to proclaim for the second time in his career champion of the Garmin Barcelona Triathlon adding a new victory to the one achieved in 2013. Mola, who came as clear favorite to the test and from nothing less than the second position in the international ranking, once again demonstrated the extraordinary potential of his foot race and controlled that stretch by decolling his adversaries little by little.

Cesc Godoy was the first to leave the water, giving samples as usual in his excellent conditions in this section of the competition. Mario went to 42 seconds of the Barcelona and both in the cycling sector maintained a strategic struggle with Zaferes that finally led them to share group until the second transition. The three came out of it with just a little advantage over other competitors but soon the distances began to be evident and it was clear that among the three was going to be the final winner. Cesc Godoy began to yield a few meters after kilometer five, and finally Mola, after the 8, made a change of pace that Zaferes could not follow.

Mario manages to revalidate a title he had achieved in 2013. Also in the editions of 2011, 2012 and 2014 was second, last year surpassed by four-time world champion Javier Gómez Noya.

The third place of Cesc Godoy confirms the regularity of this Barcelona triathlete in the event and consolidates him as the best Catalan triathlete of the moment in Olympic distance. In the Garmin Barcelona Triathlon, Cesc won the 2009 and since then he has always been present on the podium.

Mola arrived in Barcelona this year as the second best triathlete in the international ranking. Of this 2015 it emphasizes until now its victory in the first of the tests of the Triathlon Series, the disputed one in Abu Dhabi, where it surpassed, among others, Jonathan Brownlee or Javier Gomez Noya. He was second in Gold Coast (Australia) and third in Yokohama (Japan).

Cesc Godoy, meanwhile, has been present this year in the Triathlon Series of Abu Dhabi, Gold Coast, Auckland, Cape Town and London, where he obtained his best classification.

The American Tommy Zaferes (1986), Mario Mola's usual training partner, finished second in his debut in the race.
