Published the new ITU 2016 competition regulations

A new modality called Aquabike is added

The International Triathlon Federation has just announced the publication of the new regulation with some modifications.

The most important news are the following:

• The distances for the Drafting are modified to 10 meters in standard distance, while in long distance tests it passes to 12 meters.

• The safety temperature in the water is lowered from 13 to 12 degrees centigrade.

• The rules for appeals have been updated for an independent court to review the cases.

• Inclusion of the possibility of separating the exits in long distance tests in age groups to avoid potentially dangerous situations.

• Clarification of sponsor regulations for elite triathletes.

• The ITU adds the AquaBike in its competition book. This modality consists of a swimming part of 1900 meters followed by a cycling circuit of 80km in length.
