The mixed triathlon relay event could be at the Olympic Games

If the test is finally included in the Olympic Games, there could be 18 medals for the triathletes

Marisol Married, a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and that this Sunday she will be re-elected for a third term as president of the International Triathlon Federation (ITU), told EFE that she is sure that the mixed triathlon relay event will be on the calendar of Games competition Tokyo 2020.

"Official details are missing, although they are the most important, but everyone, including Thomas Bach (president of the IOC), is in favor. I think that if you study the subject, we will enter. The issue is that for Rio de Janeiro the issue was not studied, because it was decided that with the aim of these Games there was not going to be any change in the calendar", Casado explained.

"Si studied, we will enter. The problem is that, with a view to Rio, it was not studied, because it was considered that it was not convenient to make changes. That's why we do not enter: neither us, nor anyone“, pointed out the president of the ITU about a discipline in which teams of two women and two men compete and in which last July the United States team -led by its great star, the Olympic champion Gwen Jörgensen- captured the world title in the German town of Hamburg.

"YWe are in the campaign, there is a date, I think it will be in February. Then the decision will be made at the next IOC executive, because this does not happen through the Session", Marisol Casado explained in Efe.
