The ITU Triathlon World Series played in Yokohama last weekend closed an intense period of Olympic qualification and certified that Spain will have the maximum number of possible representatives in the Rio event in both the women's and men's events.

In male elite we will be represented by Javier Gómez NoyaMario Mola y Fernando Alarza. While in female elite we will tell with Ainhoa MuruaCarolina Routier y Miriam Casillas.

For the third time in its history, the Spanish triathlon will have full participants, a feat within the reach of few, since only four countries have managed to be represented by six triathletes in the two Olympic events. In this way, Spain joins Australia, USA. and the United Kingdom.

Throughout this cycle we have enjoyed great performances of our men's team, period in which Javier Gómez Noya has returned to be crowned World Champion and an immense Mario Mola has conquered the runner-up fighting until the end for the title. In turn, we have experienced the emergence of two athletes who have consolidated in the international elite: Fernando Alarza and Vicente Hernández.

At the same time, the women's team has been rewarded with the determination and effort offered during this cycle. Led by an incombustible and feisty Ainhoa Murua, who will attend her JJ.OO. rooms, the constancy of Carolina Routier and the final push of Miriam Casillas, have led us to obtain the three female seats, our team has been able to capitalize on the support of the FETRI before the challenge of getting the three places in play.
