The Elche triathlete will go through an operation to cure her popliteal artery entrapment syndrome

Tamara Gómez, who spent all of 2016 blank due to a serious injury to a vertebra, had returned to training this year and has published the following statement on his social networks:

"I have to say goodbye to this season ahead of time.

Some annoyances in the twins that began to bother me a couple of months ago, when I was training in New Zealand they took us crazy trying to discover the problem. The good news is that we already know what the problem is, the bad news is that I need surgery on both legs.

The diagnosis is popliteal artery entrapment syndrome. The summary is that my popliteal arteries are compressed when I contract the twins, and apart from this prevents me from doing sports right now, it is dangerous for my health. It is something that I have from birth, but we do not know why it has manifested now, and it has to be fixed. It is not very frequent, but it has touched me ✌️️

After the fracture of the vertebra last year, this is a punch in the face, but now the main thing is to solve this, and then focus on returning.

I am well and strong psychically, are things that arise in life and from which it comes out stronger.

Because “I have not come this far to just get here.

So, see you later!"

Tamara Gomez's victory

From Triathlon News we wish her a speedy recovery and we hope to see her as soon as possible competing at her great level.
