Tim Don and Lauren Goss win at IM 70.3 in Manta (Ecuador)

Forecasts were fulfilled, and the British Tim Don won the victory in the first edition of IM 70.3 in Manta in Ecuador.

 

Don left the water in the head group along with 4 more triathletes (Currie, Hadley, Tryoen and Vinhal) but soon he took the lead marking a devilish rhythm on the bike and left alone in search of victory. After him were compatriot Hadley and the Frenchman Tryoen, and a little more behind the New Zealander Currie. On the other hand the Chilean Roberto Rivera came back after losing more than a minute in swimming with the leaders.

Tim Don arrived at the T2 with the race practically in his pocket, 2h7min took to complete the 90kms of cycling, to more than 42km / h. After almost 10, Hadley and Tryoen did it. Rivera and Currie did a minute of them.

The 21km of running race is another recital of Tim Don who makes the best partial with 1h 16min 34s and takes the victory with a total time of 3h 51min 34s. In addition to 15 'Don in second position, the New Zealand C finishedurrie and third was the Chilean Roberto Rivera, which is the first podium of a Chilean in IM 70.3.

The Europeans paid the effort on the bike and had to settle for the 4ª square the French Tryoen and the 5ª the British Hadley. In 6º position came the Brazilian Vinhal and in 7ª the local idol, the Ecuadorian Giovanny Marmol.

In the women's race the forecasts were also fulfilled and the American Lauren Goss He won the victory. She was the first to finish the 1,9km of swimming and to 1min30s of it her compatriot Griesbauer and the Chilean Carvallo.

Soon Griesbauer puts a very strong rhythm and goes for Goss, while Carvallo maintains a more conservative tactic. Mediated the cycling sector Griesbauer ahead of Goss and is planted in the T2 in first position, 1 min of it was Lauren Goss and lagged behind more than 7 'the Chilean Valentina Carvallo. The foot race was what decided the women's competition, Goss hunts Griesbauer and stands with the victory. The "Skinny" warrior made a carrerón, winning in his age group and being 11ª of the general.

For her part Erika got the 5ª position of her age group and 26ª of the general.
