The Titán Sierra de Cádiz triathlon returns, a ritual of "sport, nature and life"

The mythical Titan confirms date for its XIII edition: 23 of September of 2017. Special rate until January's 6

Titan Sierra de Cádiz has confirmed that it will celebrate its thirteenth edition on Saturday, September 23, 2017 under the motto "The heart of the Titan", a reference that alludes to the essence of this pure and epic triathlon that each year brings together some 300 athletes in this Andalusian region. "Only with the eyes of the heart will you be able to see it, only with the ears of the heart will you be able to hear it and only through the heart will you be able to feel the beauty of what is simple and authentic, of what does not need touch-ups or artifice", the organizers report in the introductory text of this edition.

Coinciding with the launch of this edition, Titan has published a new website, developed by Ochomil Comunicación, and a new film by the Andalusian filmmaker José Prada. This video, which bears the same title as the edition of the test, was shot during the last edition of the Titan as a purely sensory experience, focused on people and nature as key elements of this mythical triathlon.

Registration for Titan 13 opened on Monday, December 19. “As a reward for the first of the first, those who have turned registration into a ritual just when we launch each new edition, a special rate between the 19 of December and until the 6 of January, with the possibility that athletes and their families can give themselves an inscription to the event, "the organizers announced.

Titan (formatted 2 kilometers of swimming, 90 by bike and 20 by foot) is one of the toughest medium-distance triathlons in Spain and there are many athletes who place their level of demand above that of long-distance triathlons. The organization, however, emphasizes the vital experience that participating in this event represents, far above the sports one. "We dream of organizing a triathlon in which the values of companionship, solidarity, respect for nature and the desire to excel are above the marks," explains José González, one of the organizers.

The tour

TItán Sierra de Cádiz is celebrated in the Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park. In the swimming segment, participants swim two laps to a circuit one kilometer away in the reservoir of Zahara de la Sierra (total, 2 kilometers), with one of the most spectacular panoramic views of the south of the country.

The cycling route consists of 92 kilometers as beautiful as they are hard. Upon leaving the water, the triathletes face the climb to Las Palomas (1st category, 1.189 meters) and the descent to Grazalema. The journey continues through the White Villages through Villaluenga, Benaocaz, Ubrique and El Bosque. Here begins the ascent to El Boyar (1st, 1.107 meters) and the ascent to Las Palomas on its other side, in a set of brutal curves known as Las Palomitas. After crowning, the segment ends with a very technical descent to the reservoir.

The foot race is a 20-kilometer route with a cumulative 450-meter drop, and few sections without a drop. After leaving the bicycle in the pits of the reservoir, the triathletes head towards the neighboring town of Algodonales. In the central square of this town is the turn to return in the direction of the reservoir. After the hard ascent to the reservoir dam and crossing its bridge, the athletes will head towards the "wall" that represents the ascent to the square in the center of Zahara de la Sierra.

The circuit of the Titan Sierra de Cádiz is a journey with beginning and end along the white villages that mark the region and through the Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park. The neighbors and volunteers of the area make this event possible, which has been consolidated as a mythical test in the national calendar, apart from commercial circuits and large franchises.
