The classification system is changed for the February IRONMAN of Hawaii

Athletes who have made the podium in recent years should receive a direct invitation to the February World Championships

The web tri-mag states that IRONMAN has decided to change the classification system for IRONMAN World Championship de in February due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

According to the website, IRONMAN has sent an email to professional athletes where he says that the world champions and athletes who have made a podium in recent years shouldreceive a direct invitation to the February World Championships without having to complete a long distance as a classification method.

This directly affects triathletes like Jan Frodeno, Anne Haug, Sebastian Kienle y Patrick Lange

Frodeno likes the measure, but he also wants it for October

For the current Ironman world champion, Jan Frodeno, the decision of the organizer is a correct step, which guarantees a little more planning security and first eliminates unnecessary pressure from both the athletes and the organizer.

"I am excited to see how it will continue and how the World Cup qualification will take place in October 2021.

However, I still believe This invitation method should also be used here. Until then, we will not be able to have a normal competition and operation schedule says Frodeno.

It is unclear whether IRONMAN has also sent invitations to other athletes. The message also does not indicate if anything will change for the age group rating.
