IRONMAN Portugal Cascais is canceled

The new dates will be in October 2021

The delicate situation in Portugal, where the state of emergency has been announced, has forced the authorities to suspend the IRONMAN and IRONMAN 70.3 Portugal that were to be played in Cascais on November 7 and 8.

The organization has sent an official statement

"When we postponed the IRONMAN Portugal - Cascais triathlon and the IRONMAN 70.3 Portugal - Cascais triathlon from their original dates of September 26 and 27 to November 7 and 8, 2020, we were very confident that we could still offer an exceptional event weekend. as planned.

In the meetings prior to the event, the regional health and safety authorities were satisfied that the health and safety measures proposed by IRONMAN were well designed and that the participants, staff and the general public would have been sufficiently protected from a possible transmission of COVID-19.

However, following the announcement of the state of emergency by the Government of Portugal, and in alignment with the Cascais City Council, we regret to share that the event cannot take place in 2020.

IRONMAN Portugal - Cascais will now return on October 23, 2021, while IRONMAN 70.3 Portugal - Cascais will return on October 24, 2021.

In what has been an ever-evolving and globally challenging time, we recognize that this decision due to the unforeseen events listed above will be a disappointment and we share those sentiments.

Athletes should have received an email with more details. If you have additional questions or have not received the email with more information, please contact [email protected] o [email protected].

While we cannot host the events in 2020, we hope to provide athletes with an exceptional running experience in 2021."
