1.500 duathletes will be at the La Nucía SuperSprint Duathlon Nationals

"La Nucía, City of Sports" will host three new Spanish Duathlon Supersprint Championships this weekend, with the disputes of the competitions on Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 May.

The distances will be SuperSprint by Relays / Pairyes, for Clubs and by 2 × 2 clubs, and between the three championships they will bring together 1.500 athletes.

It will be the first time that La Nucía Hosting Duathlon tests nationwide, premiering as the venue for events of the Spanish Triathlon Federation.

Competition program

On Saturday May 8, in the morning session, the “Spanish Championship of Duathlon SuperSprint by Clubs"

The test will have preliminary series of the different teams that are part of the National League of Duathlon Clubs, classifying a certain number of athletes for the final.

The final will be played in a Double SuperSprint Elimination format, in which the athletes will be eliminated as the segments are completed. In the afternoon the "Spanish SuperSprint Duathlon Championship for Relay / Couples" will take place.

On Sunday, May 9 in the morning, the “Spanish Championship of Duathlon SuperSprint by Clubs 2 × 2 ”, in which each club will line up three pairs of athletes who will enter the relay competition by completing a Double SuperSprint each

Two new formats with which explosiveness and spectacularity are sought.

In the three Spanish Supersprint Duathlon Championships there will be three competition sectors: 2 kilometers of race + 5 km. Bicycle + 1 kilometer of race.

 The start and finish line of all events will be located at the Estadi Olímpic Camilo Cano, as well as the transitions from race to bike and from bike to race.

Due to COVID-19 measures, public access to the stadium will not be allowed.

Everything will take place in a very compact environment with a 2 kilometer circuit for cycling that will be given two laps, very technical and with an important slope (ascent to Colegio Muixara) that can be decisive, and with the entire race to standing within the framework of the Estadi Olímpic Camilo Cano, which will become a Duathlon stadium, thanks to its great versatility and functionality.

This is the first time that these three Spanish Supersprint Duathlon Championships have been held, so “La Nucía, City of Sports” will host its premiere this weekend. It will be a double "premiere", since the Estadi Olímpic Camilo Cano will host for the first time a Duathlon and FETRI test.
